Catholic?

Me, not so much.

Been to about fifty Catholic weddings and about thirty Catholic funerals. (not to mention about two hundred Quineaneras)

Priests always tried to make me "make"  specific gestures to denote that I was not Catholic, every time before I approach "Teh Blessed," etc.

I do not take any of their shit nearly as seriously as they do and I do not understand why they expect those who ARE NOT CATHOLIC to do their little gestures, anyway!!

I mean to begin with, I could NEVER be Catholic.

I DO NOT kneel before God!  I STAND up to Him and I ask for him to prove himself, every time or at least once and for all. He, no I mean HE, has not done so (yet?) and I have a mixed feeeling thing going on. Maybe I am to be smitten or rewarded more.

The fact of my life having been protected on many occasions by some kind of Guardian Angel (Gabriel) is not enough for me. I want to stand up before GOD, before I close the case.

I am told I will have my own turn and I will be forced to kneel.

See?  How much of this shit do YOU buy into?

Catholic?  Not so much!

Had to look up the word "Quineaneras".
Dang, our girls are around that age. Ready for motherhood or becoming a nun? Don't think so, not at age 15.

I still like Catholic churches aesthetically.  The stained glass, pews, kneelers, candles and incense
bring back so many memories ... mostly of sitting at Mass, bored and tired, eagerly waiting for the
final blessing and the recessional hymn so we could go home.    Some fascination does remain.

Agreed. Churches are great, especially old ones.

I especially love dark woodwork and vivid, saturated colors in the stained glass windows.  :green:

The ones with their own cemeteries are good too, two interesting things in one.

One of my former parishes had a cemetery next to it.  Our father took us tobogganing in it.  :orly:

You tobogganed through the gravestones?

There was a really steep drop down a hill into a lower section of the cemetery.  No stones were harmed.
