I think a lot of people (so as not to generalise), like the ego game of maybe being able to steal a person from another, whether they are genuinely interested or not.

I ran into an ex about Summer of 2000. I was with my then current gf on the way to go shooting so Sandy walked up and gave me a hug all happy to see me and put her phone number in my pocket. Evil  >:D bitch was trying to poison the well for me. I disentangled myself and conspicuously threw the number away. Oddly enough that didn't set Paula off.

Paula wasn't upset with the situation because of your reaction to Sandy.  If you had jumped to attention when you saw Sandy, fawned all over her, and completely ignored Paula, then she would have been upset.

Ha ha...that particular ex ended up becoming a rampant alcoholic...we crossed paths a few years ago, and it was very, very sad.

Didn't stop him from trying to hug me and tell me how hard he was and how much he wanted to fuck me, despite him being married at the time (to a mail order bride who could not speak english).

And no, on THAT occasion, I most definitely WAS NOT wearing trakky daks! There was no ego boost for me though, I just felt very sad for the lovely person he was and how he really fucked his life up.

The reason I knew about that was because my ex used to do the jumping to attention and fawning all over his exes while he ignored me and even though I'm not usually a jealous person at all, I found that very annoying.
