Just realized I passed the 24-hour mark on being awake. Flight departs in less than two hours and I drive straight to work, so it will be about 45 hours when all is said and done. To quote Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi, "I am getting to old for this sort of thing!"

I was on discounted rates from when I was a student and didn't have a full-time job.  Now, I still qualify for some assistance (ex. heating), but not electricity- I make a piss-poor salary now, but it's more than I made when I worked part time at a campus-funded job.

If your main point was "Americans are spoiled because we have so many programs to help poor people," then yeah, probably.  Haven't felt spoiled lately (except by my boyfriend) but I have what I need, which is more than many have.
