One of my chemistry professors told me that the name RDX was actually an inside joke during WWII standing for Roosevelts Dandy EXplosive. :lol:
That's ^^^ actually what I came up with on a search just now. My Prof may have meant that as a War Dept joke.
I hadn't realized it was that old of a discovery either. I'm sure the Tim Lewis books I had probably mentioned how old the discovery was, but I haven't read them for about 15 or more years now.
That's one I have not heard of. My books covered Nitric esters, RDX, PETN, TACC and such. The Tim Lewis books were good for covering additional precautions that TM 31-210 and 5-25 did not.
