Days like today, with two "brand new kids" showing up at the bus stop, watching how quickly they interact with the others (while my kids just watched), make totally uninhibited eye contact (while my kids' eyes darted from one to the other, making no connection whatsoever to any of the other kids), speak with absolutely no reserve about their own "mistakes and corrections" while talking, etc. (When my kids make a tiny verbal error, they will laboriously search for exacting and perfect wording, pronunciation and repeat a phrase for way too long, getting it just right) I am reminded of grim reality, especially considering today seems to be a really good day.
