I'm not sure if it is or not I have very dry skin and forced hot air heat, winter is always itchy for me.  I hate lotions just the feel of them makes me squirm.  I have some spray stuff for it it works for awhile.

get some sort of humidifier if you have central heating on - washing drying on rads, or even a wet flannel, or something.

i hate that claggy feeling of very rich creams, so i make up my own, predominantly water, then oils (calendula, borage, carrot, sunflower to bulk it out; sometimes comfrey and rosehip); vitamin E, tea tree and peppermint essential oils (the latter cools wonderfully).  then i bung in some aqueous cream, just to emulsify the whole lot - i'd use lecithin, for preference, but i can't afford any at the mo.
