Don't talk to me about pipes.    Our kids stuffed a lump of blu tack down the sink plughole a couple of years ago partially blocking the pipe, and despite repeated applications of drain unblocking caustics it will NOT fucking degrade. typically, the bell end who fitted the bathroom didn't bother to fit an s-bend under the bathroom sink, so the only way to fix the bastard properly will be to take the floor up and replace the whole section of pipe.

We get the tree roots clogging ours every few years.  Usually about $350 to get them out.  we have cut down every tree even near them and it still happens

As Parts' Wikipedia link says, a plumber's snake is a flexible auger made of coiled metal, which you turn clockwise in your drain to dislodge clogs.  Sometimes you can catch the clog and pull it back out, or sometimes you break the clog up and scrape it off the pipe walls and then it flushes all the way down.

I had a look at Blu-Tack's website:

They say that hot temperatures over 70 degrees C will soften it, so if the clog is not too far down the pipes and you haven't already tried pouring boiling water down the drain, you might want to try that.  The website recommends using a citrus based cleaner to get Blu-Tack off the walls and out of the carpet, but it doesn't say that it actually dissolves it.

If you have already unsuccessfully tried a lye-based drain cleaner, you might want to try a science experiment with an acid based drain cleaner and a lump of Blu-Tack to see if that will dissolve it.

Or, you could try contacting BOSTIK UK and ask them how to dissolve it.
