You also have the possibility of injuring yourself with them, especially if you learn to knit with double-pointed needles- I've stabbed myself in the tongue several times with these.

repair work, and kinda enjoying it.
Dancing is hell on my clothing.

I went crazy for cross-stitching once.  It was very theraputic.

Not intentionally no- I tend to hold my working needle in my mouth whilst I'm measuring my work/adjusting stitches, and I'm just so clumsy I keep banging it hard into my tongue when I go to pick it back up.  
Embroidery can be relaxing too, the larger projects just don't fulfill my need for instant gratification in the same way that knitting/crochet does.

My ouches I've been posting on here have been about migraines, I'm more likely to curse myself for forgetting yet again not to hold the needle in my mouth when I do that.  How do you manage to sew things to yourself without noticing the first prick of the needle through your skin?  Talking of sewing injuries, a needle or pin down the back of a nail hurts like a bastard.

I think I did an As thing there too    I thought you were being cryptic about different types of pain.  I've shown something to my clothing in the past too.

why have i just run over my knitting with my computer chair?

It must have really pissed you off- I generally content myself with throwing it across the room when it annoys me, its never occurred to me to actually run it over. 

  now that's a good idea - when Things Go Wrong, run them over with my pooter chair! 

actually, it was more "why can't i pick up this not-very-heavy knitting?", and then discovering i'd run it over.  but i like your version better.
