I've been trying to learn the same 12 formulas for 12 hours.  These are simple damn formulas like current times voltage equals power.  The most complicated ones are the square root of power divided by resistence equals current, and the square root of power times resistence equals voltage.  And I still don't know them.  I have made a chart, I have read the definitions in the book over and over, hell I even made some damn flash cards(which have gotten me the furthest by the way), but I still don't know them.  What the fuck is this?

Dont try to learn them, understand how they came about. The complex one is a rearrangement of the P = VI one, where V = IR has been arranged into I = V/R which gives P = V^2 / R and then PR = V^2, rooting both sides gives you your formula. Dont learn more formulae then you have to.

How about a pneumonic device, like this one:

ELI the ICE man.
E is used as a symbol for voltage, I for current, L for inductance and C for capacitance. In a capacitor (c) the current (I) leads (comes before) the voltage (E), ICE. In an inductor L the current lags the voltage so the voltage leads the current. If you are following me I am leading you. The voltage (E) leads the current (I) ELI.

Im aware I could rearrange them to try different stuff that may help me remember them better, but I am just fuckin' amazed that after 12 hours it didn't sink in by now.  The ones I remember best are the most complicated.
