Most likely a telemarketer/charitybegging/scamsalesman, they do the same thing for us.  Sometimes they get real persistent. ::)

Its probably a telemarketing firm, which dials and then realises that it has no1 to actually make the call, so the computer hangs up. Or maybe something else.

Many telemarketers use an automatic dialing system, then if they realize that you are on the "Do not call" list, they hang up the phone.

I wonder if it is that or if it is just someone who hates talking to machines.

A lot of times telemarketers make a bunch of calls at the same time, someone answers, all the rest get a ringy dingy and nada.  Also, I'm sure telemarketers have devices or whatever to detect answering machines quickly.  Just so THEY don't waste time, not that they give a damn about wasting our time.  The national do not call list has more loopholes than britney spears panties...........wait........she doesn't wear panties,
never mind!

I took the kids to a balloon-glow tonight. For those not familiar with the term - it means that a bunch of hot air balloon enthusiasts line up at dusk, usually after a flight around here, and "fire their engines" just enough to keep the balloons inflated, but they don't leave the ground. It is an eye opening sight for young eyes. I was really worried about what my son's reaction would be, but we have seen several flying close to the ground recently and he kind of had a chance to break-in slowly to the idea. They both loved it.
