Prozac walks up to me and starts purring if he thinks I might pet him.  Very affectionate, very dumb.  Comes like a dog if I call him.

Our cat is three months old and already comes when I call her name, but only seems to come when I call. I believe she has chosen me as her person.

Probably just looking for safety from them.

A bit of that, too, I'm sure. She makes a fatal mistake when my daughter corners her. Instead of blasting out of the corner like a spring-loaded banshee, she cringes. Bad idea. Cringing is an inadequate defense to my daughter's kitty assault.

AbsoFUCKINGlutely not!

I had a cat that was de-clawed once. He was awesome, enormous (twenty three pounds), and really didn't need his claws to win the neighborhood skirmishes. I did no do it to him, though.
I got him "used/secondhand" from a cat salvage yard and he had already been de-clawed.

Yeah, I knew a tough old tom who was
as well. Went around PUNCHING other
cats.

She'll learn to defend herself then.
Our family cat sure did.

He was named Rocky, by his former owners, because he looked like a raccoon and they were Beatle fans. I kept the name, but made it Rocky The Boxing Cat.
He was also quite psychic in scary ways.

Care to elaborate? A lot of cats seem to be
aware of shit.

He was also quite psychic in scary ways.

Care to elaborate? A lot of cats seem to be
aware of shit.

A number of times he would panic and go nuts just minutes before something happened.
My wife and I used to do work on location photographing families for re-unions, individual location shoots or whatever. Once I had left her behind on a job to finish up while I went to prepare for the next day of work. She was due in about thirty minutes and I had been in the garage gathering the backgrounds, lighting and cameras to take for a big job the next day, which had an obscenely early start time. I had the music blasting (we lived away from people, then, in our dreamhome) at concert level, literally, when the cat started going nutzo - running towards me and jumping up, then bouncing off of me. It became very annoying and I decided to lock him up, went inside, had a second thought to change the music. He was still being goofy, but when I ejected the disk, the phone was ringing and I could hear it - could not have with the music on. I answered the phone and it was my wife, stranded on the road after hitting a deer and fucking up her car pretty bad. She was totally freaked and needed my help. The cat was sitting next to me as calm as ever, nose sampling the air, but purring deeply. He was cool, now. If he hadn't jumped up and bounced off of me I would have ignored him, figuring he wanted food. I mean you really had to be there to understand what happened and how it went, but I had a serious case of the chicken skin.

That was just the biggest time he helped me, but there were always weird things happening which coincided with some unusual, out-of-character behavior of his. He also made a habit of turning my third beer over. Two was my limit and I don't know how he could have known that, but he enforced it. There was a commercial on television with a gorilla and he was scared of it. I don't watch the tube (since the eighties), but my wife does and the cat always watched with her, but he would run and hide just before the gorilla commercial came on, not after he saw the gorilla, but BEFORE it came on, then non-chalantly stroll back in, acting normal.
I could continue for hours. I had Rocky for fourteen years and there were lots of incidents. He could not have been truly psychic, though, despite the evidence, because he actually died from being hit by a car. If he had been psychic, he would have ... anyway. Maybe he committed suicide.

The last thought was exactly what I was thinking.
Talk about a blessing.

... a blessing to be able to arrange your own suicide telepathicly? (telepathically?) It would take some of the uncertainty out of it, I suppose.

No, just being able to be around a cat
like that. I've had some weird things
inhabit places that I've lived, but none
that took an animal form.

I have seen lots of stuff I can not possibly explain with reason.

Nothing as clear. Things moving around.
Something that lived in my closet (as
an adult) and came out to pleasure
me as I slept. But, probably all just
stuff out of my delusional mind.

Calling for a sign, and a firefly appearing
in the middle of November (upstate NY).

I don't know. It's just hard to put some of
it into words. I'll probably be more able later.
