I'm wondering why so many of the aspies I've met in real life are so much closer to the NT stereotype that some on here seem to have.  eg  loud, stupid and annoying.

Probably because various people who act like they are cool, enlightened, and politically correct often believe in certain prejudices.  And then people try to emulate that.
