Some liberals and even some communists now want to legalize drugs in Sweden. As I always say, we have a weird system here. Most drugs were actually free to use but not to sell or possess until 1989 in Sweden. This was interpreted so, that if you were caught in the act of using drugs, you went free, but possessing and selling would most likely put you in jail. One liberal and some lefties want the ban abolished.

But if you're caught using them, aren't you also in possession of them?  If I'm eating a banana, I'm simultaneously in possession of that banana.

I know that they couldn't charge you for drugs in your urine or blood (if not driving on drugs, of course) and you might say that you're in possession of drugs as long as they're in your body. I also know that possession and selling was criminal but not usage. So consuming drugs seems not have been considered possession.

back east, as a gift for my mother. A few years later,
