i knew some aspie would pick up on that, so i was gonna add: "the exeption being jungle, where you simple cant build cities, illustrated by the lack of dense population in the amazone jungle, congo jungle, south-east asian jungles, and borneo... " but in the end i thought "hey, theyre aspies, they probably even figured out that i figured that out and that it woulda been unecesary to state the obvious :] "

btw china always had a gigantic population, only in the past it had BELOW a billion, so it wasnt like "whoah!"-worthy in the same way

they were always plentyful tho, 50 million back in year 0, and it has hovered around a quarter of a billion to half a billion for centuries.

also, the population of today isnt cencus based, but estimation based. theyre planning a cencus soon, and some estimates dare guess upto 2 billion people

You probably could build cities there, but you can't have much agriculture there, which is why you don't see the cities.

btw Brasilia is built more or less in the middle of the jungle, and has quickly grown to a jungle-based metropolis

you know what i meant by the original statement tho, its like a land surface with waterways, and you leave those waterways long enough, and you get this layer of human covering them,
and you gotta call pest control or something to get rid of it
