Not at all. CUPS is great, and very reliable if you run the latest "stable" release of it. However, I run the "unstable" version of Debian Linux, which means that everything, including the printing software, is constantly being updated (to the latest version) but isn't always reliable or bug-free. CUPS, this time, introduced a serious bug.

Nope, CUPS fucked up, that's all. All of a sudden, I can't print anything from any KDE app--CUPS won't talk to them...  >:( So I looked around in Debian's bug database and it turns out everyone using the latest CUPS is experiencing similar problems.

I'm really careful with dist-upgrade these days. I still do it way too often but I'm much more careful.  :angel:

Thats what I hate about unstable tree, but I can't stop myself dipping into it. I'm using PCLinuxOS again at the moment, so I'm spared that particular temptation.  :angel:


On a lighter note, don't use the coloured backing paper out of the rizla pack as an 'emergency paper'. Trust me on this one...
