Obviously if I had more money and really needed "Speed" in those days there were much better options, but I had that option, almost by accident, so I used it.

up a RAID drive, and you co-opted it, to just use
multiple drives. Thanks for clearing it up, because
I was really having doubts about my understanding.

Normal people really don't need RAID - it reduces latency
and provides more reliability, all at the cost of more space
(over multiple drives). Backups are usually sufficient.

It's disgusting. But, it's not worth their time.
There's just no sense that you're dealing with
actual people, any more. They probably treat
their employees like shit too.

I used to work for a good one. Then they were merged with another company, one that was less good. Took them a year to fire me.

Nupe. That would imply some forethought on their parts.

I think Ozy hit the nail on the head. Common human courtesies towards another human being are no longer commonplace, but rare.

At this point in the process we, (you, Odeon) are simply numbers and don't even have a chance at the rarest of human courtesies, if they happen to be bestowed upon us.

(I feel this way, in part, because of the fact that when my brother tried to sue the power company for having wires hanging down, which electrocuted his son on a survey job, the power company's lawyers referred to his son as a fucking employee number to the court in their deposition, instead of a name. Even my brother's lawyers were pissed.)

Kinda. IF they have a deadline to pick someone,
then they'll be letting you know, by that time.
Still, I think you did the right thing, contacting
them - at the least, it probably caused some
momentary discomfort. Maybe whomever 'twas
will stick to their word, next time. Unlikely though.
