why is that? cause intel infected apple like a virus?
The newest cutting edge games are released for DX10 on Vista.   Stuff like Crysis takes advantage of that new technology.   You know all those games that they barely get around to porting to Mac.   I guess I would have use for a Mac if I didn't play games at all.
:P   Internets are super serious.

I dislike them even more than I dislike Microsoft.

why is that? im very curious.

Once upon a time, Apple participated in a project that became the PowerPC. This was supposed to be a joint effort by Apple, Motorola, and several others; one was finally supposed to be able to run both Windows and Apple OS on the same pooter--the PowerPC. Motorola even made a fab piece of hardware that I laid my eyes on, and wanted to buy when I had enough money. I wasn't cheap, see.

Then Apple decided to pull their OS and only allow it on Apple hardware. :grrr:

To me, that move represented everything that Microsoft has been accused of through the years, and more. For years and years, Apple harped on MS for MacOS IE and Office releases, etc, but still saw it fit to use the exact same tactics themselves.

Of course, today, MacOS is really Unix, only in a slightly exclusionary, non-standard way. It runs on Intel processors because it's cheaper for Apple, and so it's finally possible to run Windows on the same machine, albeit in a non-standard, buggy way.

And then, of course, if you study their strategies concerning iTunes (hatehatehatehatehate), you'll notice the same pattern as with their other efforts.

Me, I'm happy using Linux. It's free and it doesn't try to exclude anyone.

apple the company has done a lot of stupid shit in the past ten years, :agreed: i could rant for days...

i was talking about the machines. my g4/g5s run securely and reliably. i dont think i could handle it any other way.  :)

to each his own i guess...

:) Yeah, precisely. My pooter is more than five years old now (with some replaced bits and pieces, tho), but I run Linux on it and couldn't be happier. Well, I could, with a new PC, but hey, that's life.
