Might do some pruning but I use most of those programs for one purpose or another (though I don't launch them from the desktop).    There is some trash on there but I don't give enough of a fuck to do anything at the moment to change it haha.  I do more to organize my start menu due to me using it more actually.   I rarely view my desktop as I am usually in more than one program (switch via Alt+Tab).   Basically the only time I see my desktop is when I am booting up and I usually just leave my PC running.    So yeah not much use for my desktop anyways.  When I am away from my PC I just turn the monitor off (it has powersaver).   When it comes on there are programs open usually that cover the desktop.

I'm the same, my desktop is rarely viewed as I have at least 3 programs (MSN, mIRC and Firefox) open across my two screens.

What do you mean? It's a function of my graphics card and Windows itself (XP and Vista are both as capable, and probably 2000, Me and 98), I have two monitors plugged into my computer, and they act as one desktop stretched across the two screens.

that's what I figured. Can't remember what this thing is called, but
it allows you to run across networked machines, over multiple OS's.
Really handy, in some cases.

Because I custom made myself a desktop with pictures of my celeb crush (the guy in the foreground).  I was tempted to use at least one shot of just hi (there's a great one I found at one point) but figured this background was sort of justifable as I genuinely like the band's music.  It's just that the lead singer is also gorgeous.

As an aside, I have a friend who loves vintage trent reznor.  She just got a new laptop, and I helped her chrissen it with a custom Trent background.  She was quite pleased.
