My computer is barely functioning right now. I think all the memory might be used up, but it won't let me go into task manager. Everytime I click something it takes about five minuets to react. Earlier this week I decided I was going to remformat it, but then it got a lot worse and now I can't even back anything up. Any suggestions any of you guys have would be very much appreciated~

Get an external drive, and move crap you need to
it. Then do the reformat. I need to do this, as I've
lost quite a bit of my memory - gods know where.

can't you put the shit on a memory stick or is that what you mean you can't back up?

i have two computers full of shit i need to evacuate. it's such a job i've procrastinated over a year.

how much does a memory stick hold? is it one gig or 40?

i guess you should get something bigger then.

Cal's right then.  Either an external drive or just buy a new drive to put in your computer and start fresh with the old driving becoming the backup.

60 gigs for $70 USB, US. Not too bad.

Much better than a stick. Gets cheaper, if
you want more.

A new one would be around 2-8 gigs. You can get 4 gig for under £20.

Reboot it in fail safe mode (press F8 when booting) and allocate less hard disk space to the pagefile. If the HDD is really full, you'll get enough space to back up some files. When you have about 10% of HDD space free, defrag the disk. Conceivably you'll need to do this several times.

dammit. this happend on my laptop and my moms new boyfriend had to help me reboot the whole fuckin thing. it was dead for a few months!! :P

Alright, I'm borrowing one of those external HD's in a couple of days. But for right now, I can't open up windows if it isn't in safe mode. I think I have a virus. Does anyone know what ReVa is?
