Why is the suicide rate four times higher for males than females, while the suicide attempt rate is three times higher for females than males? And why are white people just under Native Americans at the top of the list?

Native Americans have a tough time in this country.  Alcoholism is also rampant in native american communities.

No, I don't mean why don't they die. I mean why do men use more effective methods of suicide? Everybody knows that most of the time a person poisons themself their stomach is pumped, and yet poison is the most popular suicide method for females. Native American suicide states make sense, given their demographics. But why are white males, who earn the most money and face the least discrimination right after them? Why is the suicide rate in the former USSR, which has it's share of economic and housing issues, so high, while the suicide rate in Nigeria, which is just a little worse off, significantly lower?

i live next to the largest indian reservation in america, and i gotta tell yah, more indians need to commit fucking suicide.

my guess would be the pressure to sucseed in the business world, having the perfect family etc. is the major reason white people do it

Maybe something like that.  Although, I would add to it the thinking that if they do all that, somehow happiness will just magically occur.  And when reality sets in, they don't know what to do about it.

I wonder if its because women are more likely to romanticise suicide so tend to chose the methods that result in a slow fading away from the cruel world.

I remember when I had a shotgun to My head the only thing that stopped Me is that I could not do it to My Grandparents. My Parents where in Turkey at the time, if they would been there I may have done it. Glad they weren't in the end cause I might not be here today.

I go to that room in My Parent house and I look around sometimes wondering how it would have looked in the end. I just try to imagine it. I did for years but know I don't. The room was My old bedroom that became My Dad office. That room had all the guns and still does in the end.

In the end I am glad I did not do it.

I worked with a guy whose brother broke up with his girlfriend.  The guy went to her house knocked on the door and when she answered he blew his head off right if her face.
