When I first started posting online I used to think I had to post my sn on the forums because it was telling me too but then I found out I didn't have to post my screen names. I always post mine because I like talking to people. New people is fun talking too even though I have plenty of online friends but my online friendships don't usually last long because we lose touch with each other. I have a lot of sn's on my lists in my messengers and I don't even talk to lot of them. If I don't want people IMing me, I don't post my screen names. Besides not many newbies IM me so I can post my screen names anywhere. I don't get a bunch of newbies like I used to. No one from here has never IM me so there.

I rarely IM people because I am shy.

what about posting private IM conversations? it seems a bit hypocritical to me to have you here commenting on IM etiquette. ::)

*shrug* I've explained my reasoning on multiple occasions, and have yet to receive a response that addresses its substance.

Because it was an extenuating circumstance, it doesn't create an inconsistency to have standards of IM etiquette.

I'll comment where I like, of course.
