I've always thought England has the most gorgeous flowers. Soph is proving it.

First of the irises in bloom. (not sure but think it's incredibly early this year)

Really early indeed.

I find it amazing how some plants can be early or late, and others somehow stick to their regular date. Last year my peonies bloomed before my irises. My irises are not blooming yet, but they will be one of these days. The peonies are on schedule as ever. I expect them to start somewhere begin May.

Well, most plants, if not all, are temperature-scopic. OK, made that word up but they sense temperature and get triggered to start growing when to the T goes above a certain level. Night-time Ts are important here too. Trigger timing varies between species of course.

Last year my plum tree didn't give any fruit at all due to a late cold period in early springtime. Have better hope for it to give some fruit this year. (bet it does)

I realise it is because of either being triggered by temperature or light, or a combination of both in different ways. And there are other factors too of course.
Makes the garden different every year. I like that.

That's a cool building. Is it a lodge or something?

It's a log home.  It is beautiful and it's out in the woods the only neighbor you can see is the owner's  fathers dairy farm silo.  the peak of the ceiling is 25 feet high wanted to do it today but ran out of staging frames.
