there's a statue in a park right at the end of oxford rd and i could never work out who the hell it was, but i used to drive past it every day at the end of 2006. so i walked up there (took me a while, and v cold) a couple of days before sophie died to see who it was. and took some pictures.

I just found out that one of my cameras (my Epson PhotoPC 850Z) is really sensitive to infra-red.  Here's some pics of my Christmas tree.  The tree is a normal dark-green living one that's rooted in a pot and the lights are normal incandescent yellowish orange Christmas lights, but it looks blue-white in the pictures because it's reflecting so much IR from the lights on it.  I put the main room lights on for the third and fourth pics, but the tree was still white.  Plants have pigments in them to make them extremely reflective to IR so that they don't overheat in the sun, which makes them white in IR pictures.

Here's the same camera taking pics of an electric hob on the cooker with the lights turned off in the kitchen.  These ones have an exposure time of 1/4 second and the aperture set to F4.  The hob only has a full on and a full off mode, and temperature is controlled by changing the amount of time it spends in each mode.  The first pic is of the hob in full on mode, and then the other pics are of it cooling down once it's switched to full off mode.  The pictures show it glowing when it was invisible to my eyes.  Also, it glows a bright red to human eyes, but the camera pics it up as white because of the dominance of IR.
