What are you talking about? As good as any Swede can afford a gun and could theoretically get one legally, but most don't have the patience to get through all the humiliating and complicated processes to get a license. And also, since there is no right to carry, it's pretty pointless to have a legal gun in self-defense.

You haven't been able to get one.

Because I haven't tried, at least not legally. And even that I haven't tried very hard.

And what does that have to do with not been able to afford one but still ending up with one against ones temple?  ::)

It's not that easy to get a handgun
in the US, but a lot easier than in
Sweden. Now, I know that you
seem to think that letting everyone
have guns would make the world a
safer place, but the looser gun rules
here mean that a lot more people
like my wife (who was robbed at
gunpoint a couple of times) and
other co-workers of mine (one of
whom DID have a 9mm glock
put to his head) will have to go through
this. There are jobs where even if
armed
, one cannot easily defend
themselves. Where it is easy to get
the drop on the person. Frankly, I'd
rather not be put in that circumstance
at all.

For whatever reason, though I worked
night shift in the booth often enough,
NO ONE thought to molest me. But,
not everyone projects an aura of insanity.
And, not everyone will be active enough
to always be carrying. Even in the "wild
west," many people didn't carry. And there
was a good deal of violent crime.

I know people who have been raped and beaten here, who would have been able to avoid that if they'd been carrying a gun. And that girl I posted pics of escaped from rape by carrying an illegal taser. If she had oqbeyed to our cowardly laws, she'd been raped.

Maybe it should be like in that town were everyone is obliged to always carry, at least the head of each household?

First people complain about spam
Then they complain about content.

Perhaps they should just seek help.

Like I've said, I'm in favor of killing,
so I shan't disagree. I just think
that your views should be explicit,
rather than relying on these lame
attempts to justify guns, to the
non-sociopath.

Overall, guns make people less
safe. Not every women is going
to be troubled packing heat. There
are other ways to protect oneself.

Check out the Vermont or Alaskan gun laws. From what I can see, they cannot stopping you from buying a gun there even if you're a convicted murder.

Even handguns?

Yes. There are no limitations. And if you think it's hard to get a handgun in any US state, compared to Sweden, you don't know what you're talking about. It'll take years to get a handgun legally in Sweden, at least a real one. The minimum time for a .22 caliber handgun is 6 months, with compulsory shooting club membership, of course.

I rather appreciate his narrow paragraphs. Makes them easier to read.

Actually, I think that's a good idea. Anyone should have to
be receiving regular practice to have a gun.

@odeon - thanks, that's why it started, though that one
may be a bit TOO narrow. I didn't know how much I was
going to write.
