Either of these will do. The revolver is a Smith & Wesson 642-2 J frame 5 shot 38 Special +P, 6.25" long 4.25" high, 15.4 oz empty 17.5 oz loaded, cost $350 t0 $400. The auto is a Ruger LCP 380 5.25" long, 3.625" high, .8125" wide, 12 oz loaded with 6 in the magazine and one in the tube. Pocket carries like its not there, about $320 t0 $350 OTD price.

The velocities out of those two will hover around 800 to 850 fps from the 2.75" 380 with 95 grain fmj (for penetration because light bullet weight) and 850 fps from the 38 with Speer 135 grain short barrel JHP +P from the 1.875" barrel. As you can see from the heavier grained 38 bullet has almost 50% greater sectional density and therefore can still penetrate with expansion out of the short barrel. I mostly prefer one of my baby Glocks in 9mm or 40 for greater power but that 380 goes almost anywhere.

I like guns mostly for the aesthetics, but also the power. I remember liking shooting a shotgun because of the power behind it. Much more powerfull than a .22

I like the compact and neatness and general pretty-ness of a short barreled handgun though.

I like small useful guns for the same reason. Here are two a little bit larger and heavier and more powerful, also cost more. This is one of my Glock 26s and a Kahr MK9 @ 22 and 23.4 oz respectively. Both are 9mm Kahr is 5.5" long, 4" tall, .9" wide, G26 is 6.25", 4.17" and 1.18" hold 6+1 and 10+1.

I had no idea that such tiny guns went for such big prices.

Those are not big prices ask him about expensive guns.

Making an auto pistol small, reliable and powerful (9mm and up) requires a bit more doing than making a big pistol reliable. But the price is not always inverse to size either. The Les Baer TRS on the preceding page was $2000 + after taxes and fees. It's like comparing the old F16 to the twice as expensive F15, eeking out that last bit of potential comes at a cost.

Ahh. I have a few that are uncirculated, and two that were in circulation. There all in decent shape though, like you can still see the feathers on the bird
