My guess is that you get to keep it for quite a while. Have a look at your father and you'll get a pretty good idea, though.

My dad had lots of hair left when he died, in spite of radiation treatment and reaching 68. Looks like I don't have to worry although most of it is gray.

I think one should worry more about the mother's side. As I remember it is an X based gene, primarily responsible for baldness.

My maternal grandfather had lost most of his hair before 25. I'm 36 and still have most of my hair. My brother is 31 and have lost about half of his hair, though, so I guess he's the one that has inherited that gene. Of course, with my bad luck, it's still possible that I'll lose it.  :-\

It's probably a crap shoot. The only really dangerous thing is if your mother was bald - I think you'd be doomed then.
