I'm jealous I have never seen real mountains  only what passes for them in the East

Once you'v seen the mountains of New Mexico, Montana, Idaho and the Canadian Rockies......well, our Eastern Mountains look like foothills.

I want to go

Book a flight to Albuquerque New Mexico and rent a car and drive up thru Santa Fe, Taos and places like Eagles Nest and Angel Fire.  Or, take a flight to Spokane Washington and drive to Libby Montana and all the way up to Kalispell MT and visit Glacier National Park then take the "Road to the Sun."

Before my wife and I were married we took a trip to Alberta Canada and did a side trip to Banff and Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies.  One word...........Awesome!

On a side note, Santa Fe New Mexico is 7000 feet above sea level..............Mt. Washington NH is 6288 feet above Sea level.  After Santa Fe, it's all uphill from there. 8)

Look here and you can see pictures of all Colorado's 14000 foot mountains:

Move your mouse over the names and you will see the pictures.

Edit:  The picture above is of the San Juan Mountains, which are in southwestern Colorado.

You could fly into Denver, rent a car and drive about five hours to get there.  I think it is just about as far from Santa Fe, New Mexico.

actually the mountains in arizona are not apart of a mountain chain. most mountains are. the mountains here are volcanic in nature. a 12,000 foot volcano not apart of a mountain chain does it for me

Yeah. I was pretty shocked. When I was 5, I saw some
real mountains, but it's been since then. Being ON them
is even more amazing than just seeing them. In the height
of summer, they're going through their spring. There just IS
no summer. I love it.

I flew to Vancouver a few years ago. On its descent to Vancouver Int. Airport, the plane flew over--or rather, between--the Rockies. I've never seen anything like it.

It was a good trip, that one. We also passed over Greenland. The glaciers were awesome. They're probably gone now, though. :(

Nah. Their base was built on the glaciers and now it's gone. They left.
