Who's asking the questions around here, and who's answering them?

Don't you think I have the right to handle my ask away-thread any way I see fit?

I don't really think about such things. I just get disturbed when the world doesn't
seem to work the way it should. Why do you feel that you must answer every
question with another question?

It seemed like a good idea at the time. ;D

I have never understood why it should be necessity to become irrational in order to prove that you care, or indeed why it should be necessity to prove it at all - Avon

Yes I am. ;D

Seriously, the nick "Odeon" is the name of my home theatre. I have this fully functional 35/70mm cinema in my garage, named Odeon after the classic London theatre.

First, I still think working as a projectionist is a lot more fun than physics. Second, it involves fewer people. Third, while I also (frequently) work as a contractor in the IT business, my lack of social skills is a problem--I've been fired from a few places. I have a huge problem with authority figures. I have a big mouth and not nearly enough impulse control. My sarcasm skills are good and I tend to use them.

Oh, and while I did study physics (yes, Lit, quantum physics, too) and astronomy, the there are about twenty full-time spots in astronomy in Sweden. If you want to work in that field, you have to move abroad. A friend of mine moved to Chile to get a job.

The doc that dx'd me said that my career choices were typical for an adult on the spectrum. We tend to be overqualified, underpaid, and either unemployed or stuck doing stuff that aren't suited for our level of education but give us the solitude we need.

That was grossly simplified--she said a lot more--but you get my drift.

I was smarter than most adults at the age of 4, according to a doctor, who was one of the best on AS in Sweden after professor Gillberg. I have a verbal IQ of about 200 and I'm better on a test called Högskoleprovet ("högskola" means "university" or "college" in Sweden, not the same as US "high school") than 97.6% of everybody else. I live on about $1000 disability/month. It's the damned Swedish conformism that destroys the lives of most AS people. :grrr:
