i was outside playing when chernobyl went to fucks. i was just a little toddler but i remember mom talking about radioactivity. she was worried about it floating over to our side. which it did.

i've always been against them. there is no use for them. when the aliens come you'll see.

chernobyl was not properly managed

three mile island wasn't properly engineered

I want a poll option that says "Yes, but only if the nuclear industry takes it's collective head out of it's collective arse first."

Nope, it's just that the majority of people in the world, like the majority of the people on  intensity, are morons.

So, we're perpetually fucked,
and should not play with nukes.

i wasn't saying it was. it was just a tangent that chernobyl bit. it doesn't affect my position on nuclear power. i'm against them because they hurt mother earth.

Management is a big problem even when things are properly engineered.  Maintenance is always one of the things they cut back on to save money even the best engineered plant is susceptible to problems if left to rot or has half ass maintenance.

That was the soviets, who had no idea whatsoever how to run a nuclear power plant. Most countries know what they are doing and nothing will happen. The soviets on the other hand are playing with fire:

all hail the all knowing wikipedia...

::)

honestly, hadron, do you not know that there are other arguments, more informed, and certainly more comprehensive, than the wiki?  are you going to base your whole life around it?

No, but normally its a good source of basic information. Asides if people want to follow through, wiki lists all its sources at the bottom. A lot better than having to mess around figuring out the correct search term for google.

well, here's a revelation for you: there are also things called s-c-i-e-n-t-i-f-i-c j-o-u-r-n-a-l-s, and r-e-s-e-a-r-c-h- p-a-p-e-r-s, and even these wierd and wonderful things called b-o-o-k-s, which contain all manner of up-to-date and accurate information.  you can access these marvels in l-i-b-r-a-r-i-e-s, which are places that have LOTS of them.  and they have more specific and detailed information, often which isn't published on google or wiki (although i can access many papers and journals online).

amazing, isn't it?

I would love to subscribe to a scientific journal, but I was going to wait until I had a more permanent address. As for librarys, i cant paste a link to a library book on here, it isnt really fair for those who cannot access it. Not all of us have access to a university, Lucifer.

no, dear.  what you do is read the information, then present a cogent argument, and back it up with references.  it shows you've thought about it, and actually know what you're talking about.

have you never heard of p-u-b-l-i-c libraries?  you can go in them and read things, and it's free, you know.
