Also... what is with that baby in harry's Dumbledore "dream"?

That was Voldemort's fragmented soul.  He damaged it when he did all those bad things and when he divided it.  The only thing that could help his soul was remorse, which is why Harry told him to try for some remorse.

What in the name of Ganesh are you nerds shiting on about? Wands? Moldywarts?

I take it that you are not a fan of the Harry Potter books then, Vodzy?  And who are you calling a nerd anyway, nerd?  I think we are all nerds about something, it's just about different things for different people.

Teachically, if we have one area of extreme perseveration, that makes us geeks, not nerds.  Nerdiness has more to do with general intelligence, geekiness is extremely specified.  Actually, it's sort of like the G theory of intelligence versus multiple/Gardener type shit.

(This is one of the areas I'm geeky about.)

Where is that are you a geek, a nerd or a dork thing that has definitions and questions?

My daughter has been asking me about the differences lately.

The way I understand it is that a geek is someone who has extensive knowledge about a specific area...

A nerd is someone who likes to know a bit about everything. A nerd would have more knowledge about a greater range of things, but could never touch the geek in his designated area.

A dork is someone who has all the fashion and social skills of geeks and nerds, but doesn't have the high level of knowledge or the dedication to pursue such knowledge.

ok, geeks then.

I never claimed not to be a nerd by the way, I was using the term ironically. It could be synonymous to 'people' on most internet forums.

Correct.

I'm actually more of a nerd than a geek, but I have areas of geekiness- or, rather, it's like I'm a nerd but have anti-geek areas that I know nothing about.  :D

It is impossible to be a Harry Potter nerd unless you are an actual harry potter character (i.e. hermione, or someone from ravenclaw).  :D

I wondered that too.

My guess was it was a bit of voldemort that broke off Harry.
That really makes sense. I never thought of that.

Also, the Cruciatus(sp) curse didn't work afterwards either. Something to do with the wand Voldemort was using?

Same problem of wand "ownership", I believe.
