Well, probably doesn't make much
sense for you to give an opinion on
anything other than a pamphlet.

I would say RPGs count for experience on fantasy stories.

I disagree. As one of the major elements of a novel is the writing.
And, I was surprised, in this day and age, that the Potter books
were as moderately well written as they were (I stopped at 3 or so).
Indeed, I haven't been able to bear most fantasy/SF that's been written
since the mid 70's

People who read Harry Potter have been fucking lobotomized. Seriously.
No I know your problem...

What's so special about it? I've read and experienced tons of fantasy storylines, and Harry Potter doesn't do wonders for me.

I like Harry Potter.  I have read all the books and I haven't been lobotomized yet.

How many of the books have you read to be so certain that they are not any good?

:smarty:

I'm not much of a book reader.
stick to fortune cookies then.
Misunderstood.

Some RPG's have way more depth then books, as an experienced player myself. You could try final fantasy or elder scrolls, see what you make of them cal.

Ugh, even worse, computer RPGs.
I play them, though neither of the
ones you mention, but I'd much rather
read a well written story.

Go and get the first book, then have a good shot at it. Dont bother with the movies, they are a shadow of the books.

When you have made a decent stab at reading the books, then you can criticise them. But not before.
