Ok, back on topic.
Both Lucifer and Hadron raise valid points. And sniping each other because you disagree is not getting anyone anywhere. K? Good.
Amanda Baggs' videos poses an intriguing question, what is language and what is communication? Autistics know the hard way that communication isn't just verbal language, it's verbal, it's bodyn it's alot of other things. Communication can be both blunt and subtle at the same time. And indeed some people don't even use verbal language to communicate. We're now using a textual language it's visual in nature. Same with sign language.
I don't think Amanda Baggs' version of language is any less relevant than any other form of communication.
But!There's always a but. She complains that people don't make the effort to learn her language or her ways, which is a valid complaint, however she has made little effort to learn the languages of others except where it benefits her, such as typing. From what I heard in her video she seems like an incredibly lazy and selfish person, not learning to blow her nose til she was 25, but she seems quite capable of constructing this rather complex and provocative video; because it serves her purpose. And is not Autism essentially "of the self"?
Before we criticise others, be they Amanda, Lucifer or Hadron, take a few moments to learn where they're coming from and understand their point of view. That way you'll be far more equipped to rip their arguments to pieces
