Songs you "can never listen to again"
« on: July 10, 2007, 05:54:46 PM »
I was discussing this with my mother.  She has one like that; she listened to it obsessively during a breakup and now it's torture for her to listen to.  I don't have anything like that from anthing in my own personal life, but, ironically, I can't stand the song that she played all the time when that relationship was going well.  (Chicago, You're The Inspiration; I don't get sad when I hear it so much as this overwhelming urge to destroy something.)

Does anyone here have a song like that?  You don't have to name the circumstance, although it might be interesting to hear the name of the song.  (And it's not being emo if you admit to having a song like that.  It's only emo if you still listen to the song every night, get drunk, and cry.  :P)
it is well known that PMS Elle is evil.

Free Bird! Oh, GOD, never again, please!

Nothing emo going on with it, but every cover band I have ever worked with has played it and for ages I heard it every single night. It sucks the first time you hear it, but the 'illionth time ...

I don't really associate music with events in my life, so I probably won't have an emo entry. I do have a little disgust for Todd Rundgren's "Hello, It's Me" only because it was my ex-wife's favorite song and she burned that one into a hole in my head at the time.
Jimi Hendrix: When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace.

Ghandi: Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

The end result of life's daily pain and suffering, trials and failures, tears and laughter, readings and listenings is an accumulation of wisdom in its purest form.

I don't think that I've ever heard a band cover it,
but it is rather the running joke nowadays to
request it from EVERY band.

Nah, nothing I can't listen to. Just lots of nice emo stuff for me.
Though, most of it's not too sappy.

Where do you think the hot and cold running joke comes from?

I think it is called "Return to Innocence" by Enigma. It was played at my friend's funeral. I hear the song every now and then still.
It was easy to come up with this one as I am in an emo mood today, so apologies there. :smurf:

Hey, that was one of my brother and my favorite songs, when I was about eight. Happy memories.

I've got "issues" with Pachelbel's Canon - if for some reason I had an unquenchable urge to feel emo, I could probably use it.
You'll never self-actualize the subconscious canopy of stardust with that attitude.

Any of those one hit wonders from the 90s, before I stopped listening to the radio. Every time I catch a fragment of "Tubthumping" I instantly remember how much I hated hearing it every 5 minutes.
!!Super atomic enema!!

"Mitt hjärta är Ditt" by Rolf Wikström. I believe the lyrics were originally written by Swedish poet Nils Ferlin. In any case; not ever again. Ever.
Den som läser detta är dum.

Paris Hilton makes music?  Thank god I don't listen to the radio.
I came to this world with nothing
and I leave with nothing but love,
everything else is just borrowed.

Fuck it, we'll do it live.

Her music isn't unlistenable- which is all the worse if you tune in and listen to the song all the way through, and then realize who you were listening to.  When her CD was on the radio a lot, there were probably a lot of "WHAT???? THAT WAS PARIS HILTON????  Well, there goes MY self-respect," reactions.

Well, then again, she may have gotten a lot of those anyway?
