I remember reading something about a guy who tried to do the right thing.  His son, who was about 10 or so, had nicked something of low value (can't remember what) from a shop while the guy hadn't been paying attention, and he found out later on.  So, being the upstanding citizen he was, he endeavoured to take his son back to the shop and explain the situation to the manager, expecting that the manager would be happy to have his item back and that the son would learn a lesson from it and grow up to be as good a citizen as his father was.  Unfortunately, the manager called the police and his son got done for shoplifting.  The moral of the story?  Don't do the right thing; do the smart thing and keep the bus schedule.

Peter, it sucks how the guy called the police when the father made it right. What he should have done was taken him back and had him pay for it and throw the item away. That's what my mother always did with us kids when we take something from a store. I think I'll throw the book away. I can't stand keeping something I stole and feeling guilty about it.

Two teen girls were arrested for having it in the bathroom in a stall. Saw the article somewhere on the news, I think yahoo. A mother came in the bathroom with her young daughters and saw them having it and she reported it to the police.
