i've had a couple of motherboards die on me.

Me, too. I had a PC Chips P3 board

PC Chips, Enuff Said?  ::)

Man they were crap!!! Every time someone I knew, family usually, told me they knew some computer guy and he got them a good deal (They never asked my opinion, that's family for you), it always ended up having this cheap ass PC Chips MotherBoard, oh and a Cyrix CPU  :bangbang:. And to top it off, you'd find a 4.3GB Maxtor, which would only last a couple of years and then die.

Before buying any PC gear, always read lots of reviews and support forums of said hardware.

btw, the Zalman CNPS9700 NT CPU Cooler kicks fucking ass!!! Got my wife's Athlon 64 X2 4400+ idling at 10°C.

You're right. I bought it because I wanted a second box going on the cheap and had most of the other stuff lying around. It was a pain to get it going, but the replacement board still works in a friends house. (poor guy) I really didn't know squat about computers, back then in the early Pentium era. (still don't)
Buying that PC Chips board was a good learning experience.
:D

I really liked the way Intel treated me with their warranty, though.

PC Chips *shudder*

Ex MIL bought this ungodly over-priced system a couple years back and I had to hear about how "totally wonderful" it was over and over again while I was scraping up enough money to build myself something a bit better than the ancient piece of shit I had.

She didn't have the system a year and it was sitting on my kitchen table with a dead hard drive, PC Chips & Maxtor.  :lol:  The motherboard went 3 months later after I replaced the hard drive.

I bought "Sea of Love" on DVD. OK film, but the reason I wanted the DVD was the end title music, a Tom Waits song.
