3x200ml cans of air duster.  My new PC has glass sides and now I can see how dirty it is inside.
Ever got that feeling that you're trying to teach a dog a card trick?

Something I thought I would never see again.  Years ago, I bought a FOSSIL brand watch with a real phases of the moon and loved it.  A few years later, we were hiking Cadillac Mtn. in Bar Harbor Maine.  I had it on my wrist and when I put on my back pack before we started.  It got hung up on my watch and without knowing it, the watch band broke and it fell to the ground and I didn't realize it.  Get to the top and then I realize it.  Too late to go looking for it and I hope somebody else did find it and enjoyed it.  I have always spoken about it, searched for another, without success.  Today, Amber (my daughter) found it!  It's apparently a reissue of the old style that I had.  She gave me the link, I went there and bought one, the circle has now been closed, retail therapy at its finest.   8)  <bliss>

I almost forgot to mention ...

I was doing some last minute "shopping" with my daughter who wanted to get something special for her friend at an antique store.
Of course I always look at tools, records, CDs and blades when I hit one of these places. I never look at toys, but there was a nice box on one of the stations. I looked.

I found a magnetic dado shim set with all twelve shims, complete. It was marked as "toy magnets, probably from old speakers" and yet they were in a nice wooden case. It was three bucks!

There was no brand name on the box set so I assume it was a part of a complete dado set at some point, but when I got home I pulled out my micrometer and measured and, just as marked, each was as precisely sized as it could possibly be.

AND, magnetic!!!  Which means that altering the dado width by a few thousandths at a time is so much easier because the shims "stick" to the plows as you replace them for more precision in cutting.

I have no idea what these are worth, but three bucks for "toy magnets" seemed like a no brainer to me.

Not surprising, really. Dado sets are banned in many places outside the USA.

A dado is a trench sawed into a wood panel to accept another piece of wood panel to make a more secure joint where they meet.
A dado set is an adjustable thickness blade, made up of several blades and spacers to get the right width, that you put in a table saw to create these trenches.
They are used often in making cabinets and furniture. I use them for building speaker enclosures.

Used improperly, a dado set can be quite dangerous, hence banned in many places.

Thank you, DirtDawg. That's a good explanation. I also looked at some pictures online and saw (heheh) the blades and spacers.

A drain pump for my front load washer that decided to take a shit tonight.

So it's ....

A. call a repair guy for an estimated $300 repair....

or

B. a $40.00 part, a cold beer and a couple of YouTube videos and some assorted cuss words.

Eta of said part is the 4th. Just what I wanted to do on the first week of the New Year.  :autism:

How the fuck would I ever survive without YouTube?

My mum fixed her leaking fridge after looking up the problem on YouTube. Saved her from buying another fridge.

I bought some dividers for my clothes off the net. Last I heard, they were in Tasmania. WTF?
