It's closer to what Apple does except you still have access to the file system. Also, there's none of the extra stuff that Samsung forces upon you, like an extra app store, browser, and all the rest of it.Sounds like where I am headed. Might be a good choice for me.Let me know of any caveats you discover along your Pixel journey. Well, about the only thing I can think of so far is that this thing is huge (I bought the Pro). On the other hand, I don't mind at all - my eyesight isn't getting any better. There are a few bugs, of course, but nothing major. And it took me a while to get used to Android 12, with gestures rather than the three buttons at the bottom, but I was able to go back to the old Android UI for those until I decided to try again. The upsides are many, though. The camera is stunningly good for a mobile phone, just to pick one that really matters to me, and the AI is sometimes beyond belief. The experience is very much like what I liked with the original Pixel, six (?) years ago. The hardware is far better, though. If you like Android and aren't a fan of the alternative UIs offered by Samsung and others, this really is as good as it gets right now.
