Have not bought yet, but, I hit a road hazard while passing through a construction site. My entire exhaust pipe was torn lose.

Problem is that a full exhaust pipe for a fancy-assed Escalade, made of pure stainless steel costs over nineteen hundred dollars for the pipe.

I like the car, but I am probably going to just trade it in and get another car. I have not done any real custom modifications, except for a decent stereo.

Looking at getting another car, rather than spending so much money on this car.

Did you go back and pick it up?

...it's beyond piecing together?

Sorry DD, had stainless on the Saab we used to have...no they are not cheap...even back then.

There is some weird government restriction against "repairing"  or re-welding of stainless steel exhaust systems for safety reasons. Some federal regulation prevents the normal shops from even touching them. I am forced to go back to a proper Cadillac dealership, which will NOT even touch it without ordering the "huge cost" part in its entirety, from the engine to the bumper.

I am being welcomed to the world of hi-tech, advanced auto ownership in a big way.
 :hahaha:

Of course, no one ever plans to hit a huge piece of metal on the road and have something punctured under the car, just driving down the highway.

Remembers the low tech days of patching your exhaust with an empty beer can and JB weld.

You have my sympathy DD. Hope you get a good deal.

Tried to take apart the latest pair of headphones to solder any loose wires. Shouldn't have, annoying as hell.

The wire in some of them is so fine,  I wouldn't even try

I noticed. A completely pointless exercise. >:(

Cool.

Let me know how that works. I have quite a few but none that strong.

It seems pretty strong so far but I have not put weights on it yet to give it a real test mostly because they are out in the back yard and it's cold.

Today I bought new bolts and washers to replace the ones on the upstairs toilet tank that were leaking.  Also another succulent plant from the clearance rack at Lowes,  poor thing was on deaths door.  As much as I like getting really cheep house plants I wish they would just hire someone that knew how to take care of them at the store

I have a money tree I saved the guy from trashing at Wal mart...felt sorry for it, it had fallen off the table and out of the pot, didn't even know what it was, had to take it home...it is getting big.

I am not the best with house plants sometimes. I do better with the stuff outside. Used to do really well with African violets...but haven't had one around since before the kid.

It's due to the chromium in the stainless.

When I went to the Lincoln Electric welding school back in '06, they told us about the new regs coming down the pike.

You need to have an approved ventilation system to weld on many types of stainless now.

A metal build-your-own World War 2 three-tank set from Barnes and Nobles.  The pieces are metal.  It's for PA's birthday tomorrow.

The PR is giving him a book that has various lists of 10 things in movies.

Or a shop with a really big wall around it so OSHA can't see inside :zoinks:
