Big bottle of dark rum for my old man for xmas.

Not got time to get my xmas stuff arrive for xmas, but there's gonna be nearly a grand's worth of pimping out done on the lab. Some lithium aluminium hydride, Red-Al, thionyl chloride, couple of kg of iodine, lots of glassware, chemicals, solvents, and lots more besides, plus all the kinds of items that are the sort of stuff I couldn't write to Santa for, because if dropped down the chimney, the house would go up in an inferno :autism:

Plus, definitely going to get myself a new vacuum pump for distillations.
Beyond the pale. Way, way beyond the pale.

Have no idea what those things are. But they sound fun!

Kayleigh and I went halves in a Christmas present for me - a baby G Casio watch. It's black with bronze on the face. Very happy with it. Also bought groceries, boring.

Groceries:  A cheesecake variety sampler (for Christmas) and a large bottle of blackberry wine - survival gear for the emotions this time of year.

The boy's Christmas present, a Nintendo switch.

I was up until past 3:00 am playing Zelda :viking:...and I just got the four spirit orbs in the beginning.

I foresee many sleepless nights ahead.

A ring modulator is equivalent to a voltage controlled amplifier that can perform negative amplification, basically combining two signals in a way that results in the output containing frequencies that are mathematically related to the input, but (ideally) none of the actual input signals themselves. It's the same circuit the BBC Radiophonic Workshop used to create the voices of the Daleks and the early Cyberman. A phase locked loop is a device that generates an output locked to the phase of a periodic signal at the input, allowing you to synchronise two cycling events (or synchronise an event to a multiple or division of another event), which can be at audio or sub-audio rates.

I bought a Roku Ultra.  A wonderful little piece of tech!

Bought a 3-pc Linksys Velop Wifi mesh kit. Looks like it actually works.

Those look very cool, from what I have read.

I was so proud of my upgraded WiFi system a few years ago - even posted about it. Now all that old shit is ready to be replaced.

Need a modem first. My DOCSIS 3.0 spec modem is obsolete once the next cable upgrade takes affect in a couple of weeks. Probably going to bite the bullet and do it all at once again.
Looking at the AD7200 routers, but they are a bit pricey right now.

What's really good is that they actually work in bridge mode, which means that I can keep my router and the wired network I have around the house. Most of the alternatives are meant to replace your router completely.

I didn't spend any money today and in fact put some "extra" in the bank.
