On the weekend of Freud's rampage, the site was down.  So, he could not of logged on and asked to be talked out of it even  if he wanted to.  He may even have believed he was banned, as I did.   Yet, this fact has not been mentioned in any reports I have read.  Maybe if the site was more technically reliabe the tragedy could have been averted?

i don't believe that's true, actually, and seeing as i was online dealing with the fallout all weekend, i think i'm probably right.  the site wasn't down for any length of time, anyway - i was at the computer for about 8 hours solid, so i'd have noticed.

my memory may be wrong, of course, but i don't think so.

In my PC it was down from Friday evening to Saturday Evening, I'm sure.  It may have been differnet for others.  I remember because I was waiting for a PM, so i kept checking it.  It was down all night while I was asleep and still down when I woke up, which was when the killings happened due to the time zone.

I don't see how you could get into difficulties if it's true. Calling someone a name is impolite, but everyone draws those lines a different distance from themselves. I did not understand, until this week that MrMark was a mod/admin or what ever he is.

He may have some oppressive ideas, but at least he could bring some structure and consistency to the bannings. Dewey Decimal System of evils, anyone?

I mentioned this in a thread on WP, and of course my diagnosis was questioned because i must have been 'mixing in some pretty low circles.'

Yeah..  I don't understand why people are saying that Alex doesn't like conservative people.  It seems like much of the board is dominated by Conservatives and Christian Fundies (further evidenced by Kosmonout's experience).

I would say that WP is mostly agnostic/atheist from reading posts there.    There aren't that many vocal religious people that I notice on that board.   WP has certain limitations to its free speech and a conservative approach makes it easy to express yourself in a way that won't get you banned necessarily.   No cursing and you don't have to resort to outright name calling.    You must ignore the majority of the posters if you think everyone on there is a Christian Fundamentalist.   They do some arguing in the religious threads, but not much beyond that.
