I need to have surgery on my ankle whenever the insurance company stops dragging its feet and approves it.

I have a small hole in my talus and my anterior talofibular ligament has a chronic full-thickness tear from the sprain six months ago, so both of these will probably be fixed.

Then I will have to wear a splint on my ankle for about two weeks and then I will be back wearing this most lovely cast boot for probably another eight weeks after that.

It hurts more when I am walking on it and less if I can stay off it, but the boot helps.  I'm also using a cane, but I will have to use crutches for at least eight weeks after the surgery if the doctor repairs the ATFL.

Coming down stairs is particularly painful if I'm not wearing the boot, so of course I had to do that a lot for physical therapy to see if it would get better.  It never did.

A grey sweater , some kiwi'd black shoes, and tanned pleated waist slacks. I also have a black microfiber coat on with a fleece liner.
