It's a city in Friesland (upnorth). Stavoren, in Dutch, and it has its city-rights since 1068.
Um, peanuts.. when you compare it with the ruin city they recently have found in Bulgaria. It's near a salt mine and it's been said the inhabitants were quite rich (salt was a precious commodity back then). 'Oldest' city of Europe they say it is.. and it dates back to the 5th millennium before the year zero.
