Today in 1937 at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in New Jersey the Hindenburg crashed.  When the Zeppelins were still running my mom's family would go to the beach and watch them go over Long Island Sound toward NY

MSY is the airline designation for New Orleans.  The obvious initials were assigned/taken by an airport in South America (IIRC).  MSY stands for Moisant Stock Yards where the airport was built.  Moisant was an aviator who crashed his racing airplane there 12.31.1910.
