Having the landline from A,T&T removed from our house on Monday. We are now, as of today, fully cellular/wireless for phone communication.

Three lines we got at a great discount, because of my job (a full two percent more discount than my wife's job can offer :D), one for me, one for her and one for the homestead. I chose the Nokia flipper, vidcam, music player, G3, web mail thingy - all the hardware was free (basically the simplest, most humble, user friendly cell phones we offer at work).





Addendum:

I am tired of paying fifty nine dollars for the privilege of accessing to the local 911 service on a landline on which I keep the ringer turned off all the time, anyway.

Where I grew up, rough weather took down lines and poles fairly often, interrupting telephone and electrical service.

Most people have cellars, generators, diesel or propane tanks, two way radios, wells, bicycles, livestock, etc. (... or certainly one of their neighbors does) Telephones have never impressed me as hallmarks of dependability, anyway.


Some plans allow you to capture your existing number for a small fee, if that is really a problem for you.

AT&Ts rep will come over here Saturday morning to get my Uverse TV hooked up and my phone, internet and TV will cost $80 for 6 months and then $90 for the next 6 months. I haven't had TV for about 34 months. I like the Sci Fi channel shows like Tremors, Lexx and used to watch Babylon 5 there as well but I bought all 5 seasons on DVD about 3 weeks ago. I also like Law & Order, they had a lot of good cast members but Jerry Orbach as Lenny Brisco was my favorite, he also did a whole lot of good supporting roles in movies.
