Bavaria also has its own anthem. It sounds like a psalm.  :)

Stalin may have inspired Elvis Presley's pompadour.

Stalin studied to become a priest when he was young. When Germany had declared war he was so nervous that he began his speech with "Brothers and sisters..." like Russian priests begin their preaches instead of "Comrades..."

I don't know if it has been translated. Probably. I read about it in a history book many years ago.

I love Firefox!

The damned electricity went off for half an hour, earlier tonight. Probably to do with ice on the wires or it would have been restored much more quickly.

The reason I love Firefox, right now, is that I was in the middle of an enormously long post (you know how windy I can get at times, but this was on a music site - even worse!) when we went black! Damn!! Double DAMN!!

When I started up again, I found that FF had saved my incomplete post in the browser cache and I was able to finish it.

Continuing with "the power went out" useless fact ...

When I got to work, yesterday, apparently, many of our systems had failed, due to surges and nulls while they were trying to re-start the power grid.

I had one hour to replace several "blackbox" computers (I call them this, because they are simple, self contained, DC powered, players, basically, which do nothing else. One important box was not replaceable, so I hooked that system up to a clearance item laptop and hid it beneath the overstock items on the shelf) which run the displays, touch screen download areas, loop sales promos, etc.

I didn't make it, but my choice of priorities impressed the district guys (I used the sale flier which came out the day before, DUH!) who showed up just before we opened for their monthly inspection.

They were all bitchin' about the hotel being blacked out.

Sweden was constitutionally divided into counties for the first time in 1634. There were 11 counties in Sweden Proper and 23 in the entire Kingdom. 9 of those counties (in Sweden Proper) still exist, most of them with only slightly changed boundaries. The number of counties between 1810 and 1997 was 24, except for 1819-25, when the county of Öland was established and then re-incorporated into Kalmar county. The number of historical provinces in Sweden Proper was also earlier considered to be 24.
