That does look brave, but mine is like this ... very American. In fact every single piece is inscribed (not really inscribed, because it is moulded into the glass, and stamped on the stainless steel rim that holds the handle), "Made in USA," made back when stating such really meant a product of higher quality.
The bottom of the "coffee holding area," which is frictionally attached, originally made from stainless steel, is what I replaced with a coffee-lover's gold plated screen.
It makes outstanding coffee.
This one was my grandfather's, bought in the early sixties (I was approaching puberty), and my mum had it for many years after he died.
It is mine, now and I can NOT justify my NOT using it for over ten years. I actually own another one, just like it, as a back-up, but it was one I found at a garage sale.
It has been sitting atop my kitchen cabinets as an ornament since my kids were born.
