Who does it belong to? :P

There are a few I'd gladly let own it so long as they took good care of it. :mischief:

Suicide would waste me
Homicide would break me

I find Sir Les to be confident, but not particularly egotistical.  :apondering:

He is quoting an ex-member who proved to be far too sensitive and had to leave.

Hole and cell are cognates from Proto-Indo-European *kel- "to cover".

In the two original stanzas - the only ones sung today - of the Swedish national anthem the word "Sweden" isn't mentioned.

Swedish advokat=attorney is Latin and literally means "speaks for". In Swiss German the word Fürsprech is used, which means exactly the same.

German Verwaltung and Swedish förvaltning, both used for "administration", literally mean "violating for" of German Gewalt=violence.

Sometimes when people write in West Swedish dialect, they use the ö for words that in standard Swedish use o, like in körv, which is korv in standard Swedish (meaning "sausage"). This is wrong, because the dialect sound is an ablaut and not an umlaut. Thus it should be spelled kôrv, which more educated people also do.

The usual development of an Indo-European language is to go from "synthetic" to "analytic". English is one of the best examples of this. This means that declensions and inflections disappear and that prepositions etc take their place.

Among Germanic languages Icelandic is the one that is still very "synthetic". Färöisk comes second and German third.

Baltic and Slavic languages are the most old-fashioned Indo-European languages still spoken in Europe. Polish has over 50 forms for every verb. The most old-fashioned language of all in Europe is Lithuanian, where you can still find many words that existed in Latin, Ancient Greek and Sanskrit.

This is actually a very useful fact, should you ever want to speak Swedish the proper way. :zoinks:

The XLink W3C specification was originally a part of the proposed XML specification, along with what is now known as XSLT.

It was first referred to as XLL, the XML Linking Language.

Athens is plurale tantum in English, which means that it only has the plural form and not the singular. This is most probably due to the fact that most Latin forms of the name have an -s; Athenis in dative, ablative and locative, Athenas in accusative.

SGML, the forefather of XML, was sometimes referred to as Sounds Good, Maybe Later, by some implementors.
