I very much doubt it. International phone lines are an astronomical price (I have a phobia of using the phone anyway) and I doubt the Bajans are up to date as regards internet cafes! However, I will send a postcard if Buzzard is OK with that!

Actually, I'd be surprised if there isn't decent accommodations
for internet. It's a touristy place, and people today don't
live without. Probably free access right in the hotel.

Sorry, I didn't word that very well. What I mean is that in our experience when we stay in a hotel, we very rarely leave the hotel and so do not get a proper feel for the country. If you go self catering, then by definition you have to get out the house to do shopping, etc - and thus you get a taste for what the island is really like. I know at hotels you can go on package coach tours and stuff, but it is not the same as hiring your own car and exploring the country yourself. Does that make sense?

Also, this way, most of your money goes into the local community (who in Barbados are generally poor) as opposed to the US corporate run hotels who keep the money for themselves and don't give a shit about the rest of the country or the negative effects tourism has on the country.

I doubt she was trying to be offensive I just don't think she understood what self catering holidays are Robert- it might be a cultural thing.

When you go self-catering Callaway you generally get an apartment (or if you pay more a house) to stay in, but you have to provide your own food-rather than having your meals provided for you like you would in an hotel.

Perhaps "self-catering" is purely a UK term. Self-catering literally means what it says: you cater for yourself rather than having a hotel cater for you. Usually this would involve hiring a holiday cottage for a week or something in the UK. Self-catering is a lot cheaper than staying in a hotel and it can be much more fun.

Oh OK . For some reason I thought that there was a slighty dirty suggestion hidden behind that question, but nevermind. Also, any suggestion that I would ever be unfaithful to Buzzard in any way I find very upsetting .
