Of course a person who is better at arguing their position can be more successful at arguing their case, against equally valid claims or even better claims.
I do think that lying, misrepresenting facts or making bogus inferences, is pretty weak.
BUT....
Making your opponent seem weak or flawed?
Intimidating them?
Using big words?
Questioning their motives?
Getting them to agree with you?
Bringing to bear their faults and prejudices (if relevant to your argument)?
Any of these types of things are all good. If they come up or you seek them out to get the best result from your argument, all good. so long as you do not do those three things i mentioned above.
