It's hard to keep supporting that "sport" with the cars spewing greenhouse gases and the middle east being at war over the stuff that's needed to run the fucking things.

The gas used at one of those races pales in comparison with the gas it took for everybody to get to the event, or any other event for that matter.

That's sort of an assumed risk for the few who were stupid enough to drive.  They'd have their tailgate, but their car would be stripped by the time they walked out of the sporting event (after they paid $25 to park).

that's a whole nuther cradle of monster babies. it angers me too the way things are but anger doesn't solve anything, well, at least not anger that is frustrated can't do nuttin anger... rather do what you can for the environment and try to edumacate people in a way that doesn't antagonize them. you can't change everything yourself, you can do your part though and not worry about others' parts, they'll get there eventually. you don't have to support the sport either.
